“He’s feeling good, the guys have been treating him well,” McCarthy said. “Yes, Aaron should play Sunday.”

Rodgers missed four games last season with a broken collarbone, returning for a victory over Minnesota on 24 October 2016. He was sidelined this season with a hamstring injury but returned to action in Green Bay’s victory over Detroit on Monday.

He threw five interceptions and five touchdowns in the first three games but has been rusty in the past two games, totaling 34 completions in 85 attempts for 320 yards in a 25-22 win against the Lions and 35-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday.

McCarthy said he feels Rodgers will “be very good” against the Eagles. “He’s moving great. No conditioning setbacks at all,” he said.

The 49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin, who left with a hamstring injury, said: “He had some wobbles in the Minnesota game, and it was nice for him to get back on track last night. He’s going to be a warrior and he’s going to come back out here ready to rock and roll.”
