Rapper Dolph is dead at the age of 35 after being shot in Memphis, the US local channel WREG-TV reports.
He was “shot multiple times” during an attempted robbery near the Hollywood Diner on the west side of Memphis on Saturday night, the station reports.
“Dolph was with a group of friends at Hollywood Diner near 601 Madison Ave. when a man approached the group and asked to use a phone,” reads a post from WREG.
“One of the women in the group gave the individual her phone and the individual shot one round into the air, told everyone to get on the ground and demanded the phones back. At this point Dolph ran off but the man continued to chase after him and one round struck Dolph.”
They reported that Dolph was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The next day Dolph was named on social media as the victim of the shooting.
“Dolph…..Rip” read the post from his verified Instagram account.
WREG reports that Dolph, born Jermaine Nursey, was a south Memphis native, who made headlines earlier this year when he was featured on an episode of WWE’s Monday Night Raw.
