Hundreds of flights canceled due to weather in East Coast region

American Airlines is canceling hundreds of flights this weekend, according to Newsday. The cancellations are the result of Saturday’s nor’easter in the East Coast region. Airport workers have reported severe weather throughout the day, including gusty winds, heavy rain, fog, and snowy precipitation. And because of those conditions, American and other airlines are being forced to cancel flights in some cities and airports.

American airlines is making special arrangements for passengers whose flights will be canceled this weekend, according to an update on the airline’s website, to “help passengers make alternate travel arrangements and arrive at their destination as quickly as possible.” Flights scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled across the country, from Philadelphia to New York and Washington D.C. All of the sites listed above.

American Airlines has also cancelled flights into northern states such as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut through Sunday. The airline will offer waivers for passengers who have flights booked on those routes this weekend. However, American is urging those traveling in those states to be prepared for cancellations and delays because of the conditions.
