Francisco Flores Garcia, 56, has been arrested in connection with a Christmas Eve sex assault of a 28-year-old member of the Long Island Association at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church in Mount Olive, New Jersey.
According to a probable cause statement for his arrest, the victim, a Catholic woman, said in a prepared statement that she was walking near the church when she was approached by an unidentified man, who told her he would give her a ride home. She accepted, and walked a short distance behind the church, where he grabbed her and pulled her inside. The man then held her down and fondled her, according to the statement. The man told her to remain quiet, and said that he was waiting for his mother to return from church services. At one point, the man hit the victim in the face with a closed fist, she said.
When she screamed and attempted to flee, the man grabbed her arm and pushed her into a bushes, she said. At one point, he called out to a friend, saying he could hear the woman screaming, she said. He allegedly told the friend that she had “ruined his day.”
The statement from the victim said that the man stayed with her for 30 minutes before dropping her off at a nearby bus stop, where she flagged down a police officer. The victim’s name has not been released.
