Twitter boasted of booming advertising revenue in the third quarter, despite a sharp decline in revenue per user and increased litigation expenses.

The company said Wednesday its ad revenue increased 37 percent compared to the same period in 2016, jumping from $616 million to $862 million.

The ad revenue was largely driven by its Amplify program, which offers advertisers pre-roll videos as they appear on Twitter’s mobile app.

Twitter also disclosed that revenue per user fell 7 percent. During an earnings call, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said the decline was due to the company’s efforts to encourage users to post comments instead of just text.

Twitter said it added more than 100 million users in the third quarter.

The company added 2 million monthly active users in Europe compared to the same period in 2016.
